Windows activation after changing hdd to ssd

Hi,

I bought a laptop with windows 10 home installed on it. I setup a usb stick with windows setup media tool for windows 10 pro. I switched the hard drives and installed windows 10 pro with the usb. Selecting pro was probably a mistake, because now this windows 10 pro installation won't activate. (I heard it should activate automaticly if the pc had an active windows 10 version installed before)

Would setting up a usb with windows 10 home and doing a new clean install result in an activated windows 10 home version?

Why would you do this?
It won't upgrade from home to pro without a purchasing a new key.
