How do I get the touch screen to work on a Surface RT after a MS update?

My touch screen stopped responding to touch after I accepted an update from Microsoft. I have tried everything that I can find on-line to restore it but nothing has worked. I know this happened after an update because I was using the machine just before the update took affect.
