does restore factory settings format your hard drive

brought as windows 8.1 then upgraded to windows 10. will i also keep windows 10

Yes, it will erase the apps and program files installed but it will keep windows 10 there.
I think you can choose if you can erase the SD card or D:\ drive as well.
