Why did my Dell laptop stop working and only beeps 3 times after Microsoft 10 updates?

I went and downloaded the update for Microsoft 10 on my Dell laptop and the very next day my laptop would not even come on all it would do would be three times very loudly. The only thing that I did in that 24 hours was do the update for Microsoft 10. I have looked it up and it does say that it is the motherboard and that I most likely need to get a new one but my question is why this happened as soon as I get the update for Microsoft 10?
