Windows update is stuck at 89, how can I get it to finish?

Windows update is stuck at 89%

I've got a new Toshiba laptop which works just fine but it's been trying to update in the background but it's been locked at 89%. Whilst the computer can be used normally it simply will not get any further with the updates. It's been like this fo couple of days and has had two or three re-starts. Is there some conflicting software issue? Any help would be gratefully received!

There have been several issues reported of the updates getting stuck at different stages. Once it's stuck, your best best is to just do the upgrade from the ISO, which you can get at the following link. It will give you the same upgrade as the updates.
