Why can't my maps app use my location?

My maps app can't use my location

Now that Here maps is not available in the store, I tried to use my maps app but it keeps telling me that my location services are turned off, which they are not!
Any idea what's going on? thank you

When you open location in settings, are the maps allowed to use your location?

I ask because in WM10, you can have location on, but the app itself can be banned (off) and not allowed to use the location services.

Actually I can't see the maps app in the list of apps that I can allow or deny access

I can't be sure as I have not had this problem, but I am guessing it's an update issue.

The update procedure from one Insider build to another Insider build tends to break the system app settings.

The usual response I have read, was always update from Win 8.1 until we get to the stable version of WM10.

Can you tell me are you on the preview? If so, if i remember correctly, HERE services are being replaced with Microsoft maps which brings the best of two apps (HERE Maps and the HERE Drive).
