Why isn't Cortana working?

Okay, so i recently updated my laptop to windows 10.I tried out Cortana, but she didn't work. I have been looking online for solutions for a couple of days now, but nothing works.I see the "Search the web and Windows" at the bottom left, but there is no microphone, like I see on videos, and whenever i click into it to type a question, nothing happens, nothing pops up, just... nothing. I don't know why, and I HAVE set up my mic. Any help? Thanks
