Windows Central Question

Hi I send emails to someone on a regular basis that includes a US telephone number.
Calls are to be made from and to the US. The person opens the email, and tells me the number in the following format xxx-xxx-xxxx can't be clicked on to make it dial. I'm asked to always use "1" prefix.

It's a Nokia phone a couple of years old.

Is there a workaround - to click on 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx and just have it dial?

Thanks!

OK Thanks, I'm the OP. Can settings be changed in the windows phone settings? If so can you give me instructions?

Again - this is dialing from the US to the US.
Clicking on a number in the format xxx-xxx-xxxx doesn't work. He has to copy and paste into the dialer and add a "1" prefix.
I believe it's Windows Phone 8 or 8.1.

I use Android so not familiar with the Windows phone. Thanks!

Not any special settings TBH, as long as your phone is configured to be used in the US in regional settings it should work. Or try sending the phone number as (xxx) xxx-xxxx format and see if it helps.
