You can find your pictures in /pictures/WhatsApp on either your device's internal memory or the SD card, depending on where you installed the app. Media like voice messages are stored in /pictures/WhatsApp/PTT.
Conversations on the other hand appear to be saved in the app's isolated storage, which you cannot access. But if you launch Whatsapp, tap the ellipses (those 3 little dots in the bottom right of the screen) and choose settings -> Chats and Calls, you will find an option "backup". This will backup your conversations to the cloud. If you now install WhatsApp on a different device (or the same again, after you uninstalled it beforehand), you'll be prompted to restore from said backup during the setup process upon first launch of WhatsApp.

All that is if you're currently using WhatsApp on a Windows Phone. No idea about iPhones or Androids, sorry.

If im not wrong, when you select ' backup' it creates a backup in the SD card and not on the cloud

First make sure you have latest version of WhatsApp.Create a backup on the old phone(it must have SD card) by tapping on ??? in WhatsApp,then open chats and calls and then tap on backup.
Now remove SD card from that device and insert it in your 950XL.Install WhatsApp,make sure you have the same mobile number, which you had on the previous device. After you select your phone number and all that confirmation,it will detect backup in your SD card and will ask whether to restore or not.And you can tap on yes!

Precautions:
Both devices must have latest version.
Once you create backup on the old device,do not change the location of that folder, don't even touch that folder, simply remove the SD card and insert it in your new device

Sorry iam using a 1020 now . it doesn't have a sd card . Also dkp1977 thanks for your reply , but you sure it is backing on to cloud . I really don't want to lose the data as it has some important info

No, not sure. I thought it worked that way as having a backup in inaccessible place like the isolated storage would be plain useless. But apparently that's how Whatsapp works. :/
I'm almost sure I had some conversations restored upon installing Whatsapp on a new device, but I could be wrong. Could've been any other messenger.
