Why is windows giving away their newest OS, yet i can not even get a free cd of vista for my old pc?

Also that computer was bought two months before the release of win 7, and i never got that upgrade. I accidently deleted my vista partition.

go for win 7 which is way better than vista in terms of security and speed.

For recovery stuff you may want to talk to the OEM.

Or you can try to find a proper Vista ISO and activate it using your key.
But I'd try to get 7 if you can. Even if you don't upgrade it to 10.
Although Vista is perfectly fine, its support expiration date is sooner.

Also, I believe MS is not giving out free CDs or other physical media so its not exactly a complete analogy.
