Saving and using old files , most from Windows 7. How can I get it to work?

saving and using old files , most from window 7

Need to backup all files from PC all date from years of Windows 7 , You Tube , and pictures, and photoshop (usable great stuff I use every year) need this stuff to play
I need an external hard drive and a usb drive to store everything. Old stuff needs to work. If I get my stuff backed up , what will happen to all data if I up grade to windows 10

First of all it is indeed VERY smart to backup your stuff.
Basically nothing will happen with your data if you upgrade (as long as "nothing" happens during the update process).
If you however have a program/game which is not compatible with w10 you may not be able to use it.
But you can run "the update advisor" to find these.
