How do I turn off birthday email notification to my live.com email?

I have unchecked the option to receive email notifications for birthdays in the calendar. I am clicking "Stop Getting Notifications" in the actual email I received and it says:
The server at calstress.calendar.live-int.com is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

MAKE IT STOP! It's taking them from social media and I don't even know many of these people personally!

I think you need to go into the facebook app -> Settings -> and change it from there.
