Remote trigger can be useful for scenarios other than selfie. Like tripod mount w/ zoom and you don't want any wobble or group portraits at family gatherings. Even still shots of a process you are working that needs documentation and both hands are frequently occupied making it majorly inconvenient to have to constantly stop your work to take a pic.

Anyhoo, you can voice trigger with some camera Apps like Intellicam. Yeah, it would help you take selfies too, if you must.
