What is the "DOCK" button function on the on screen keyboard?

I have a HP laptop without touch screen capabilities. The on keyboard had water damage so parts of it doesn't work. Hence the need to use the on screen keyboard. My problem is the "DOCK" button is green and I'm not sure what that means, plus I'm not able to type.
