MSN News App not working and can't download from store?

Over the last 48hrs the live tile for my MSN News app is 'greyed out'. I think this sometimes happens when the phone is backing up, but that's not the case. The tile isn't updating and I can't launch the app either. I've tried launching via the jump list of apps but no response. I've had a similar problem in the past where is app has frozen, so I've re-installed from the Store. But when I got to the Store the 2 options at the bottom of the app you normally see for already installed apps are not there - i.e "view" and "share" which puzzles me a bit. Perhaps the app is corrupt and the Store can't see it's status on the phone. I've looked at background tasks and disabled / enabled for the News app but still no difference.

I'm running WP 8.1 on a L930 in the UK. Anyone else experiencing this? BTW my wife has the same set up, but doesn't have this problem...
