Its not that I dont want a task bar I just want it out the way so I can get the whole screen. At present it obscures the scroll arrow whether on the right or the bottom and obscures things wherever I put it. Autohide appears to do nothing

Something else is wrong then...
On Windows 10 if I apply autohide in taskbar settings it works just like it has for every version of Windows I've ever used...
Also, it should not be covering scroll button on browser. Sounds like maybe a browser issue?
Does autohide work in other contexts?
