Windows Central Question

The windows start icon is not responding to mouse clicks on my laptop.

The start icon (lower left of screen) was operative until a technician took my laptop apart to repair some hardware on the main board. Since then the start icon does not respond to mouse clicks. Please help.

Re: The windows start icon is not responding to mouse clicks on my laptop.

Well, since you mention that this problem started after a technician operated on your laptop, we should try and determine whether this is a hardware issue or software. Let's try moving the task bar from the bottom to the right side of the screen. That way, the start button will be on the top right of the laptop rather than the bottom left.

To do this, right click on the task bar at the bottom of your pc and be sure that taskbar is unlocked by deselecting "Lock the taskbar." Once it is unlocked, left click on the taskbar and drag it up to the right side of the screen.

Once you have the taskbar in its new position, try clicking on the start button again. If it works, then this is clearly a hardware issue. If that's the case, i'd recommend following up with the technician that did the work.

On my laptop (Windows 10 Home), the task bar icons such as START, NETWORK do not respond by left mouse button. Right mouse button gets the usual response. This is happening after an update 2-3 days back. Any solution??
