Can not Connect to pc with usb cable

[Windows Central Question]

I dont know what to do..............
I tried to connect my microsoft lumia 535 with my windows 7 pc to copy and edit some files, but was unable to connect,
As I connect my lumia it only starts charging; thats it nothhing else take place, and when i open my computers on the pc, it doesn't show any device connected.
what should i do???????????????

try a different USB cable
Try a different USB port
