Why can't I change the date on my sage now I have upgraded to Windows 10?

I have logged into sage line 50 and went to change program date but it keeps reverting back to 5/31/2016 and won't accept it. When I go to login it is bringing up a screen to change the format but everytime I change it to what I think is going to be 31.5.16 it comes up again as 5.31.16. help?
