Why does windows 10 keep converting my .pdf's to Edge?

On my desktop, my pdf.'s show as pdf.'s. when I use a program and go back to desktop, the .pdf's are in Edge. Only way to open is to right click and open that way.

Set your PDF program as default. Right click on file >Properties and select your program in Open with: section (on General tab)
