Surface 4 freezing

As of recently my surface 4 started freezing to the point where it is unusable. If i leave it for a few minutes and come back it will usually be completely frozen and I need to hard-reboot. I am suspecting this has to do with some recent updates... Any ideas?

it might be trying to install some updates - check in settings > updates if there is anything pending
