Windows Central Question

I use the calendar for notes of work /jobs for invoicing. This week I discovered all the notes had disappeared / been deleted except the last 2 weeks. That's at least 18 months of tasks! Not something I would do or even know how to do en mass. What happened? Can the notes/tasks be recovered?

perhaps they are still stored in calendar app on pc or in calendar website.

I did however come across a post on this forum that said the past events are deleted by default if they are older than 2 weeks. Maybe you didn't notice that they were being deleted?

Hi, I actually posted this question, forgot I was a member!
It is not true that oem calendar tasks are deleted after 2 weeks, I had tasks/notes going back months & I checked them regularly & was using it like a very convenient notepad/worksheet/diary. It had been completely reliable until this week. Recently, since my Laptop was finally updated to W10 I would get back from work & a pop up would appear on my laptop with my daily tasks / notes from the phone calendar. So it was synced in some way. Unfortunately I do not run a calendar on the laptop so have no "copy" (as far as I can see!) I have a google account & gmail on both devices, never use hotmail. Is it possible the phone updated to to a new calendar which immediately started deleting anything older than 2 weeks?
The only deleting I've done this week is my cache in Google Chrome on laptop

Still mystified as to why my phone calendar tasks all disappeared but success!
Via a 5 year old thread on microsoft forum I discovered that I do have a calendar on http://calendar.live.com. Fotunately all my calendar tasks from the last 2 years are on there.
I never use outlook or log into live.com & when I went to calendar on my laptop it says "welcome, start here" or something that implies I don't have a calendar - I was reluctant to pursue beyond this as I wasn't sure if "opening" a new calendar account might delete the one I couldn't access & didnt even know existed!
It seems that despite the pop-ups indicating that the phone & laptop were synced, there is no laptop function that recognises this & displays something like "you must activate your account to access your calendar" when you go to the windows calendar tile or for that matter Cortana which only shows generic calendar suggestions, no hint of calendar.live.com
So I'm pretty happy but it could have been easier!
