getting error code 0x80070057 after downloading the latest Windows 10 pro upgarde

I've tried to update to the latest release and it appears to download the software. It then confirms that my machine will run the new version. When it tries to install it gets the 0x80070057 message and stops. I've tried several times.

I have received the same error myself. Tries to install gets to about 3% then error.

make sure your not installing to external memory (including SD cards)

same problem on a SP2 using the MS downloader tool, as it won't pick up the new version through the regular update tool in settings. it looks like a common problem where the update looks at the wrong server (?).

I don't know if refreshing might help?

I'm considering moving onto the Release Preview ring as an insider, but as this is my main PC I really cant afford for anything to go wrong.

Downloading the installer package and running the update manually instead of using the in-built update seems to have worked for me.
Get the media creation tool from Microsoft: Windows 10
