i have just bought a new laptop (hp 250 g4) old labtec speakers dont work when plugged in

i have just bought a new laptop (hp 250 g4) with windows 10 intel core i5. when i plug my old labtec speakers which work fine on the olde snow leopard mac a liyd buzzing noise is to be heard and i quickly unplug for fear of waking my children. can i avoid buying new speakers?

try jiggling the pin for the speakers - it might be that the pin isn't connecting properly with the laptop - also try reducing the volume
