can i connect selfie stick to window 730 model with os 8.1 through jack cable ..?

When I connect selfie stock to window 730 model having operating system window 8.1 through jack cable ... And when I click the capture button on stick... It does not click any photo .. Instead it increases the volume as it is attached to earphones .. Is there any way to connect the phone with selfie stick

I think most selfie sticks don't work with windows phones.
