For a good number of windows users worldwide, we tether our smartphones with pcs to get internet on the pc.

The problem with smartphone data is that it is very expensive and limited. And our pcs sometimes don't understand that.

So you can have a random program deciding to update itself without you knowing and a lot of data gets wasted.

Is there a way I can monitor data usage in a real time basis? I can check a graph or list of apps and programs using data? And it has to be both apps and programs. Certain program don't have the option to defer updates

Any ideas?
Windows 10 for pc (but for phone would be a bonus too)

You can also find It's stand-alone feature 'Network Data' from Store.

I'll reccomend you install Glasswire. It's a firewall software. You will be able to see what each application is doing with your internet and here's the best part. You can block any application from the internet with a single click.

Also install the Networkx software that has been suggested and make sure to use the toolbar. It'll serve like a monitor. It's useful because it shows you exactly what is happening with your internet without needing to open any app. BTW, I use DU Meter for this - however it's a paid software.

I tried glasswire, it doesn't perform as I thought it would - going to try other apps today when I get home
