you need to have a SIM card that is 4 G enabled and then in cellular settings, you select 4G/LTE as your fastest connection

The SIM should just work. Any App would be for account payment, tracking data use, etc. You can still do all those functions on the web.

The Lumia 540 is not a 4G device. It will not work on the Jio network since they say they offer only 4G/LTE.

the SIM needs a 4G capable device, the 540 isn't. So either don't use the SIM or get a better phone that is 4G capable like the lumia 640
