I like Edge but I don't like to have to re-size it everytime I open it the first time.

so instead of full view, you want a partial view? I just tested and when I open edge and then change to a smaller window and then close and reopen it, it remembers the the last window size. This worked even after a restart. So I'm not sure what is not working for you
