Only partial members in one of my "Favorite Family Groups" keep getting removed

I've had my phone for a long time. All of a sudden this week I noticed that instead of having 9 members in my "Favorite Family Group" it keeps dropping 5 members off. And not saving. Why is this happening & how can I get it to save permanently all 9 members. Thank you.

check that your main phone account is syncing correctly in settings > accounts
