cant update whats app on Lumia 800

My phone says my version of whats app has expired but when i try and update it , it does not recognise my live ID

WhatsApp had announced the end of support for Windows Phone 7. This might be the reason it has stopped working.

you need to get a newer phone model with a newer phone OS for whatsapp to work - try the lumia 640/650
