i have a microsoft surface 7 , can i use portable dvd writer with it?

I was told that if it was a surface 7 pro I could but not the regular surface 7. is their any way around this problem?

Umm... the Surface 7 does not exist. Are you referring to the dark gray RT, the silver 2, or the 3?

Can you search for "System Information" and open that?

It should have an entry for "System Model" and that will tell you what you have... Can you report that here?
