Battery saver not reducing brightness

So, I updated my Lumia 830 with the anniversary upgrade. After that, the battery saver no longer reduces bright when activated, when it used to do so before the update. It reduced the bright to lower than low and it saved A LOT of battery. Now it doesn't and I always forget to lower the bright manually, draining the battery.

Is it just me?

could be a glitch after the upgrade, perform a soft reset > volume down + lock key, hold for a few seconds until device reboots..

is it still happening? Have you tried checking for OS updates?
Is battery saver brightness settings on? They're still there in extras
