Why after I install the anniversary update does it start to go wrong

Running Windows 10 1511 on a 500gb SSD - all works 100% Have installed 1607 twice now works OK and seems Ok for a few hours and then I find all sorts of problem occouring - programs will not run, even Ctrl/Alt/Delete does not work and so on and I end up going back to 1511 wg#hich I have kept a copy of.
At present I have decided to abandon 1607 and continue with1511 - will this still be supported with security updates?

there are pcs right now that are still getting updates for the 1511 version - the latest being 10586.589 - so yes, patches will keep coming out for at least 2 years
