I see nothing on the referenced link that addresses Windows 10 already in use. Both "repair" options address Windows 7 or 8/8.1 upgrades to Windows 10. I am reluctant to try this very involved fix with my very limited knowledge of computer workings. Windows 10 (original release) is working fine for me and I am now reluctant to update to the Anniversary version.

okay, was there an error code? And after the update failed, you still have a working OS, right?

Did you try the update troubleshooter?

I have tried the "troubleshooting" feature and it claimed to have made "fixes" but I still keep getting the "reserved partition" error message with NO error code shown. And yes - my version 1511 is still working fine.

I now have tried the suggested fix: Windows 7 or 8/8.1 with GPT partition
The commands for removing both languages and fonts files was NOT recognized by the command prompt. Nor could I run explorer.exe file Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\
