After windows 10 update I have an auto update taking forever

installed windows 10 months ago ...yesterday an Auto Update took over and its been stuck for over 16 hours ....i have tried a hard Start ...no luck right back to were it was ...just the Spinning Dots

so even after shutting down and powering back up it's still installing?
What are the specs for your pc?
Has it usually been taking long during previous updates?

its a Desktop ....i have never had any updates takes anywere close to this long Its a Lenovo Enhanced 2.0 with a Core i3 Processor ....its older but works fine for my needs

and Yes even after powering down & Back up ...its still installing

do you have any external hardware connected to it? Like an external hard drive or usb stick or secondary screen?
Can you disconnect them and force a restart again?
