How long should the Windows 10 Anniversary update take

I have tried three or four times to run the update and after it gets to about 40% and reboots it just sits there with the spinning dots. I even let it got for over 12 hours and it still had the spinning dots. I was able to reboot several times and get to revert to the previous version. I am on a Samsung RV520 laptop. Please tell me what is going on?
