Data sense stopped working

[Windows Central Question]

Nokia Lumia 1020 windows phone 8.1
suddenly Data Sense stopped working. Since then I can't backup the phone, update apps, sync emails, set up Cortana, etc.
How to fix that problem?

Hi and welcome to windows central forums

Are you able to disable data sense udner settings? :>In the settings -> slide to the left to applications -> background data -> then data sense, is it selected if so, deselect it. this should fix your issue, if not go ahead with a soft reset(volume down+lock key)

It could also be ur sim network setting. Check if ur sim apn setting is only ipv4 then a lot of apps can't access internet store won't open emails won't sync and what not. Set the setting right as ipv4v6 by editing the apn setting

is wifi working? And do you have enough data balance on your SIM?

I can't open it at all. Tried soft reset, but that didn't fix the problem.

Network selection is set up to automatic. I would not know how to set up the APN. Too many questions I don't know answers, like authentication type, proxy server URL, proxy port etc.

WiFi is working fine. I have unlimited data plan.

And of course Microsoft isn't going to offer professional help either.
