Altered a tag on a photo but OneDrive didn't pick up the change

Windows Central Question

I added a tag to a photo on local oneDrive folder. The file was already on oneDrive online. I expected after some time that the photo on oneDrive online would update with the new tag but it didn't. Is there some reason it didn't update?
