Windows Central Question

Got text on my Lumia 520 from my sister's Samsung Galaxy 3 weeks ago in Asian characters. She said it happened to her coworker weeks ago. I re-booted phone. Tonight, 3 texts from a friend's iPhone, then 1 from my sister. Online translator can't translate. These are sent in English and arrive on my phone in Asian, perhaps Chinese. Again after re-boot tonight. What do I do?

Gbobman in that thread alluded to the same thing I'm thinking. Android and iPhone users are sending proprietary emoji's that our phones don't recognize. What you are seeing is the text representation of a graphic image.

I am getting the same thing frequently starting the last week or so. All texts from an iPhone. But why would one emoji cause the entire rest of the text to be garbled?

Me too! This month. A few but more often now! Some from Samsung phone using just regular smiley emoji, then some from iPhone6. Maybe it has something to do with a recent update or a virus??

Yes! Just this month! Doesn't seem to be from emoji because my sister's been texting me for months. just confirmed she used standard smiley emoji! I guess I'm downloading virus protection...

You're right, no "real protection" for windows phones since programs all run in sandboxes. Very odd that it seems it started sparsely with others toward end of summer and is now in full swing during October. Makes me think it's a hack to a recent update or a maybe messenger hack. A friend is convinced it's vendetta from a biotech company that doesn't like what we published...their little seeds.. planted to..annoy.....

Got long text in Chinese. out that's not one on my lumia 520. Buddy resent text without the sticking-tongue emoji that's not included in my keyboard figures. Got it in English. BUT, same emoji & short text arrived in English! Strangely random. Is there any help Windows Central Moderators can offer?
