New HP Laptop won't recognize password. Can't go to accoun.live.com/password/reset.

I am now unable to login to my new laptop. Tells me to go to account.live.com/password/reset but don't know how to do that.

Does the new HP laptop not come with a default user login?

Once logged in you can go to accounts under settings and see if you can login with your account.

Remember the account requires the full e-mail address and is case sensitive.

If you do have access to https://account.microsoft.com go to login from there if it doesn't work click on "forgot password" and it will likely send to your specified email account to reset. I would also setup microsoft authenticator on your phone for easy reseting and better security.

Even if you didn't have a Microsoft account with HP laptop, as long as you have set other admin account on the laptop , you can still use these to reset locked account password in a free way ,
