Erratic touchscreen behavior - Surface pro 3

For the past few days my surface pro 3 has been having a lot of problems with respect to the touch screen. There will be a pattern of random clicks on the screen and doesn't allow me to do anything. I have disabled the touch screen which has stopped the problem for now. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the web. The problem will occur randomly and is not always present. Thanks for any help.
