why does my phone text some people but not others

Need more info. Can you access data (internet)? Any other issues? Carrier? Phone model? Have you recently changes phones or carriers? Traveled abroad?

I can say that when I've had an issue like this in the past, it was because I switched phones, and there was a mismatch between my IMEI and what the carrier had. Those mismatches create lots or weird things.
