Actually, the problem occurred for both Edge and Whatsapp. The apps crashed upon launch (Edge showing the launch screen for around half a second before crashing). The apps were working fine before updating. Reinstalling Whatsapp solved the issue, but I could not reinstall Edge due to OS restriction.
I tried a soft reset but the issue persists. I haven't tried hard resetting yet and I do not wish to do this other than as a last resort. Any ideas what to do?
