Camera takes a lot of time to capture the shot after clicking the shutter button (hardware as well as on screen). It happens randomly. After a minute or two it takes shot and camera remains unusable for that period. Also camera sometimes stucks with saving banner.. Which goes only after camera app reboot.
Is anyone else facing this issue? Is it app specific or hardware specific? I tried other apps but performance is still poor.

My first thought it ... is your device set to save images to a MicroSD? If so that could very well be the problem (bad microSD). If you're device isn't set to save images to an SD card then I've no clue. :-/

Yeah photos are saved to SD.
Bad SD? Will sd scan help me?

Not sure if just a scan would help or not. It could be the device hangs up whilst writing to the SD card. If the scan shows errors then yes let it go and see if it can be repaired (if there is an issue).

I don't know the maker of your SD card or the type. Here is what I've used when I had my camera saving to SD:
SanDisk Extreme PLUS 64GB microSDXC UHS-I/U3 Card
sandisk.PNG

I never had an issue saving pictures and videos with this one.

I am facing several issues with my camera:

- Sometimes it starts in a terribly noisy image state, even after changing exposure settings;
SOLUTION: Closing and reopening the app;
- Sometimes, after a sequence of shots, the focus stops working;
SOLUTION: Closing and reopening the app;
- Today the picture taking button stopped working after a sequence of shots and then my phone rebooted, after two weeks of 'reboots-free' time.

Besides, I find very irritating that zooming in video mode is not limited to the resolution of the sensor's crop anymore (for quite a long time, to be honest).

I was limited on the default camera app of pre-AU builds, but now we can select a zooming area that represents less pixels than the selected resolution. This results in bad quality footage.

The reason for the camera acting up is because of your microSD. As with all storage devices, i.e. Mechanical Hard Drives, SSD, microSD, etc., they have what is called a read/write speeds. The faster their R/W speeds, the better the performance of that storage device.

Basically, when taking a picture, the Lumia 950's 20MP would absolutely result in a large sized image file, which is then processed and stored/saved into a storage space in your phone, either the Phone's in-built storage or external storage (microSD). Which means that, if you take A LOT of pictures, those large-sized pictures would have to be processed and stored rapidly into either one of the storage.

Thus, if you choose to store your pictures into your microSD, which I assume to have a very slow R/W speed, then you can expect the camera to lag when taking a lot of pictures. This might also result in the camera crashing due to heavy processing bottle-necked by the very slow R/W speed of your SD card.

To fix, simply set your phone to automatically store new photos into the phone's memory, instead of your SD card. If you really want to use an SD card, I suggest getting a better performing card. Windows Central did a guide as to which SD card is best for the Lumia 950.
