To shave off power drain, I would like to turn off the GPS chip on my phone. Is it enough to switch off the Activate button in the Confidentiality/Localisation menu ? Context info seem to imply that apps will no longer access the GPS chip even if it's still running (for whom?) . So, is there a sure & clean way to halt GPS activity on this phone ?

I'm not sure the battery savings would be significant.
Just turn Location off in Settings.
