Why can i not search for anything via cortana after searching for something once?

[Windows Central Question]

When i first start my computer, i can search for anything i want one time. Then, if i go to search for something through cortana again, nothing will load. I did everything I found on google, ranging from going into the Windows Index thing and setting it to automatic, to going into the control panel and putting in 2 different lines of code. Nothing i do seems to want to allow me to search for something more than one time.

Are these internet based queries (pecan pie recipe, what is the temperature today, how can I build a soap box racer)?

Are these local searches (open Pro Polarr, play The Beatles, find Resume document)?

Or is it any/either?
