Windows Central Question

I have SUCH a bad time and I've always wanted to blame it on either the cable or the cable's end piece that plugs into my phone. But today, after having an issue where NONE of my cables could connect to allow me to recharge the battery using the stick battery that I carry, I simply grabbed a toothpick at the restaurant I was at and very carefully dragged it around in the female port on the phone. I know to be very careful so as not to hurt the male things down in there.
Suddenly after doing this a little, now I could get it to connect with any of the cables that I had with me. So that fixed it.
I wish that there was a flap or rubber plug on a rubber tether that could be used to keep junk out of the micro-USB port when it isn't being used. I'd even buy a different phone protector rubber frame type case if it had something built into it to do this.
Does anyone know of anything?

I would suggest a case that has those flaps, but first we need to know what kind of phone you have.
