Is phone call stating windows is being cancelled a scam call?

[Windows Central Question]

was told that account had been compromised and that someone was sending out fake emails from my account. I think that this is a con to get me to switch on my laptop so they can talk me through getting this sorted. Thought you should know someone is making these claims, I cannot give a phone number as it was withheld

I have a couple colleagues who make a living (well that's not all they do!) cleaning up the aftermath of these calls. It is a scam!
