Windows Launch and Cortana does not work

[Windows Central Question]

Windows 10 came installed on my computer so I don't have a windows 10 disc to try and re-install to get things up and running again. As stated above Cortana and Windows app launch are not working and today I find that Microsoft edge will not stay open.

For your own safety, please do not post personal details on open forums.

You may want to use the recovery on your computer.

Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Advanced startup

It's not clear to me, but you say the "Windows app launch" doesn't work... Maybe you mean the Start Button that calls up options and the all app list among other things. In which case you cannot get to Settings that way.
