I seem to remember reading about some of the big companies like Microsoft and Google working together to make some kind of new web standard that would use an object layer. I can barely recall any details unfortunately. I think it was something that would let the client basically compile it natively. So a single web project could be downloaded and compiled and run on all the platforms natively. Sort of how .net IL or java byte codes get jitted to native code. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I wanted to check its progress, but I don't know what to search for.
